Philosophy of Care
I have over 20 years of experience supporting and advocating for people impacted by developmental and intellectual disabilities. I focus on understanding challenges and issues that children, teens, adults, and families often encounter on a fundamental level.
I work to best understand their perspective, provide empathetic listening, and teach them skills to build resiliency against depression, anxiety, and trauma. I have a unique understanding of cultural issues that often impact how we live. Additionally, I provide training and support for parents with children who have complex behavioral and mental health needs.
I work from the perspective that we are influenced and impacted by the people and situations in our lives. Understanding how these relationships and events affect us, helps us to better understand our behavior and allow for positive growth. I believe that through working together, each individual/family has the capacity to develop skills that promotes living a meaningful, healthy, and purpose-filled life.
